Carpet Design Awards Jury
The Carpet Design Awards are judged by an international jury composed of experts from the design and carpet industry. Who wins the Carpet Design Awards?
An international jury chaired by Jamie Metrick, Managing Director Elte, will select three carpets in eight categories from each of the submitted applications, which combine design, quality and craftsmanship to a particularly high degree.
The judging criteria are design and design concept, material, finish, structure and quality as well as sustainability and branding.
The jury will choose a shortlist of the three best carpets per category first and in a second step the winners per category will be choosen. The winning ceremony will take place during the next DOMOTEX at hall 2.

Jamie Metrick is part of the fourth generation running Elt e. Founded in Paris in 1919, the family-run business has become Toronto's source for considered design for the home by developing relationships with makers and championing objects that last.
Jamie leads product focus in the company’s rug, carpeting, accessories, lighting, décor and bed departments, paying special attention to rugs.
Carin Terins
Carin Terins, RugVista AB’s Purchase and Creative Director, joined the company in 2018.
With a background in digital marketing and business—and extensive experience in the fashion industry as purchasing manager for Swedish garment wholesaler Flash AB—she now brings her expert creative purchasing knowledge to Europe’s leading online rug retailer.
Holly Becker
Holly Becker is an American multidisciplinary interiors expert who works as a designer and stylist, author, journalist, online educator, moderator and trend expert since 2006. She is the founder of one of the world’s first design blogs, decor8 , and has 4 interiors books in over 20 languages available worldwide. Becker designs stands and frequently presents at industry fairs such as imm, Maison+Objet, Formland, Habitare. This is her 5th year at DOMOTEX.
Sandra Keja-Planken
A multi talented artist and interior designer, Sandra Keja-Planken's work investigates the relationship between people, nature and the nature of man. She makes tapestries and rugs using eucalyptus, bamboo yarn, deadstock and recycled clothing, as well as wallpaper, lamps and tables, characterised by an expressive use of colour and inviting textures. She curated the exhibition 'MESSMERIZING' at Dutch Design Week 2022.
Faig Ahmed
Baku-based artist Faig Ahmed represented Azerbaijan at the nation’s inaugural Venice Biennale pavilion in 2007 and his work can be seen in public, private and institutional collections globally. Well known for conceptual works that transform decorative craft and the visual language of carpets into sculptural contemporary art, he creates new visual boundaries by deconstructing stereotypes and challenging the perception of traditions.
