The Characteristics
A new generation of laminate surfaces Välinge’s Wood Powder Laminate (WPL) technology is an innovative surface solution that delivers exceptional strength, high impact resistance and long-lasting durability – while lowering environmental impact. Produced with recycled wood powder and a groundbreaking resin completely free from melamine and formaldehyde, WPL addresses both health and sustainability challenges and sets a new benchmark for safe, high-performing laminate flooring. WPL is created by combining decorative paper with Välinge’s wood powder technology, enabling the use of dry decorative papers and a powder-based overlay. This allows manufacturers to produce laminate flooring that combines outstanding performance with genuine environmental responsibility. Recycled wood powder WPL uses a carefully controlled mixture of recycled wood powder – sourced from production waste and leftover materials – combined with binders to create exceptionally strong and impact-resistant surfaces. This approach reduces waste, keeps more materials in circulation and supports more resource-efficient production. Long-lasting surface strength Through the application of heat and pressure, the wood powder impregnates and densifies both the surface and the core, resulting in highly durable products suitable for both residential and commercial environments. The recycled powder layer also enables deep embossing using traditional DPL processes, creating surfaces with natural depth and authentic, high-quality design. Using unimpregnated decorative papers extends paper shelf life and enables efficient, on-demand production of customised designs.
Free from melamine and formaldehyde WPL is produced with a new formula containing no melamine and no formaldehyde, offering a safer and more responsible alternative without sacrificing performance.
