OHLASOL® Paint for PVC pProducts
Elevator pitch | max. 300 characters: OHLASOL® is a single-component PVC paint that bonds with the material and enables permanent renewal without replacement. It adheres to flexible PVC without cracking and restores floors, tarpaulins, and other PVC products—extending their service life and reducing material waste.
The Characteristics
OHLASOL is a one component paint that integrates with PVC. Can be used at flexible PVC without cracking, even on PVC floorings if completed with our PU-lacquer. OHLASOL enables a far more resource-efficient approach to PVC flooring. Instead of removing, discarding and replacing worn PVC floors—standard practice today—OHLASOL makes it possible to renew them in place. This avoids the large volumes of waste normally generated when floors are torn out and replaces a linear process with a circular, repair-based alternative. By shifting PVC maintenance from a replace-and-discard model to a repair-and-extend approach, OHLASOL supports longer product life, reduced material consumption and lower environmental impact, offering a genuinely eco-friendlier alternative for the PVC and flooring industry.
OHLASOL has been independently tested for indoor-air emissions and safety by RISE Research Institutes of Sweden AB, using recognised European and international standards for VOC and chemical emissions. The paint has undergone emission measurements according to ISO 16000-9:2024 using the emission test chamber method, with analyses performed after 28 days to determine levels of VOC, VVOC/SVOC, and carcinogenic substances as defined in EU Regulation No 1272/2008, Annex VI (categories 1A and 1B). Formaldehyde and acetaldehyde were measured according to ISO 16000-3:2022. RISE also carried out reference-room calculations following EN 16516:2017/A1:2020 to compare results with relevant EU-LCI values. The findings show that OHLASOL’s levels of TVOC, carcinogenic compounds, CMR 1A/1B substances, EU-LCI related values, and formaldehyde are all in compliance with the upcoming requirements for the Recommended class for emissions to indoor environments. Combined with its ability to extend the life of existing PVC floors and surfaces, OHLASOL provides both health and sustainability benefits by reducing the need for new materials while ensuring a safe indoor environment.
As a Swedish company, we comply fully with national and EU labour laws, which strictly prohibit child labour, forced labour and unsafe working conditions. All employees work under strong occupational-safety rules and collective-agreement standards. We require our suppliers to commit to the same principles through contractual self-declarations confirming compliance with EU labour and REACH regulations. We conduct due diligence in our supply chain by working only with reputable suppliers who provide documentation on safe materials, SDS information, and production routines that meet European requirements. This ensures no ethically questionable or hazardous practices enter our procurement. Our participation in Klimatlöftet, a regional climate-responsibility programme, strengthens our broader social and environmental governance. The programme provides expert guidance to reduce emissions, improve resource efficiency and meet future sustainability expectations from customers and regulators. Together, these measures ensure that our production, sourcing and product development align with high social, ethical and environmental standards.
OHLASOL is produced using 100% fossil-free electricity and a manufacturing process designed for low emissions and minimal environmental impact. Because the mixture only cures when it comes into contact with PVC, our production equipment does not require washing between batches. This avoids chemical waste, reduces energy use and eliminates unnecessary production downtime. OHLASOL becomes an integral part of the PVC and does not need to be separated at end-of-life, supporting efficient recycling processes. This design helps reduce material handling steps in circular workflows. We participate in Klimatlöftet, a regional climate initiative that supports companies in reducing emissions, improving resource efficiency and preparing for future sustainability expectations. This programme guides our ongoing work in energy use, transport considerations and overall climate performance.
