LICO 2nd Life – A new life for used floors
The LICO 2nd Life system recycles cork, linoleum, natural fiber and now also vinyl click floors: Discarded tiles are taken back, sanded, reprinted and coated and returned to the market as fully functional floors.
The Characteristics
A NEW LIFE FOR USED FLOORS The innovative 2nd Life system opens up new possibilities in the field of energy- and resource-saving recycling. When an old floor has reached the end of its lifespan, or if a new design is desired, the click-together flooring is returned to LICO by the end customer via their specialist retailer and receives a defined payment in return. Here, the old design is sanded off the floor tiles, which are then re-primed, digitally printed, and coated. The floor tiles are then re-profiled all around. Finally, the new, fully functional flooring is reintroduced to the market. In this way, LICO has expanded its resource- and energy-saving concept towards a circular economy. The LICO 2nd Life concept has received awards from organizations such as the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council). 95% of the original product is reintroduced into the cycle.
