The exhibition that was spread over 128,000sqm of gross space at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, was the first trade show of the industry in 2021 on a global scale. In its 23 years history, DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR is not only an annual event of the international flooring scene, but rather a point of reference for flooring professionals looking to do business in Asia as well as worldwide. “The excellent response confirmed the strategic role of DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR in the flooring industry, and it revealed the readiness of companies to boost their business in 2021” said Jessica Zhu, vice president of VNU Exhibitions Asia.

In 2021, DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR, welcomed back its well-known events and conferences and introduced new and innovative ones that were very warmly received by the industry.

World Flooring Forum (WFF)

With its theme centered around “Cultivating new Forms of Business – Enabling New Growth”, the World Flooring Forum, in association with the China Forestry Association, welcomed 23 renowned experts and outstanding entrepreneurs as speakers. Their presentations were presented to more than 400 industry elites representing more than 200 companies in China. Through online video streaming, Mr. Craig Dupra, Chairman of the National Wood Flooring Association in the US, presented the current status of the Wood Flooring Industry in North America, with a focus on distributor channels. Ms. Tanja Kernt, Editor in Chief of BNP Publications, on the other hand, presented a more global approach on figures of the wood flooring industry, complementing Mr. Dupra’s presentation and offering the WFF audience with an updated overview.

Global Flooring Connect (GFC)

Global Flooring Connect, DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR’s online digital platform, was the main point of reference for the international exhibitors and visitors that could not make it onsite due to this year’s travel restrictions. More than 150 well-known and established, buyers, from construction engineers to traders and distribution agents were online during the three days of the show and conducted 330 meetings with around 220 of the exhibition’s onsite exhibitors. The satisfaction rate of both exhibitors and buyers that participated in the digital match-makings was over 95%. At the same time, virtual booth tours, live streaming events and exhibition tours, coverage on social media including TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instragram, Youtube and LinkedIn exceeded 2,500,000 unique views in total.

VR+ Interior Decoration Blind Boxes

Five up-and-coming young interior designers from China, joined forces with international flooring brands in creating Virtual Reality Interior spaces using flooring products from these exhibitors. During the exhibition, visitors could enter those, black blind boxes, and experience a new form of space design with special VR technology and physical material display.

Concurrent Events

As a general rising trend, real estate tends to favor the integration construction and installation both in terms of hard and soft decoration. Within this concept, relevant concurrent events taking place at neighboring exhibition Halls, at the same time as DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR 2021, complimented and increased the shows stand in the industry.

Interior Prefabricated Decoration (IPD) exhibition brought, very well known domestic real estate developers onsite, such as Jinmao and Jindi. They jointly presented a high-end result combining the actual construction of a prefabricated home complete with internal decoration. As a result, IPD, attracted a large number of contractors, developers, interior decorators and related suppliers onsite.

cadex, once again featured Design themed events, showcasing the latest trends in interior design and architecture through seminars, forums and talks by influential design experts. Its “Healing With Design” summit was a big hit with the audience, exploring new possibilities of commercial and architectural designs that will support a better social experience of public spaces in high-density cities. “Shaping the World with Joy”, as an all-day project show-case, explains and presents how design can bring happiness to people, even at troubling times, such as now, in an epidemic era.

In 2022, DOMOTEX asia/CHINAFLOOR, will launch its 24th edition from 25th to 27th of May at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC) in Hongqiao, Shanghai. As China will be hosting the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, the exhibition is moved later in spring, in order to avoid any possible issues or disruptions arising during that time that could affect the exhibitors’ and visitors’ participation. Onsite Re-booking this year for 2022 exceeded 70%, proving both the satisfaction of onsite exhibitors, as well as providing a positive forecast for the 2022 exhibition.
