LICO DENIM | Li & Co.
The fast-fashion industry, with its rapidly changing trends and throw-away principle, poses a significant challenge to our modern society. We are tasked with managing the ever-growing mountain of textile waste. A stark example of this problem is evident in the Atacama Desert, where every year ten thousand tons of unsold, unused, and old clothing are discarded without consideration for nature, the environment, or the local inhabitants. In Germany alone, over 80,000 tons of clothing are wasted annually, 20% of which still has price tags.
Our aim is to counter this destructive cycle and offer a sustainable alternative by reusing waste from the fashion industry as our valuable raw material.
Since the birth of jeans 150 years ago, they have been synonymous with durability and longevity, making them an ideal material for heavy-duty use. We have identified jeans as the perfect material for a floor covering designed to withstand daily challenges. The product is complemented with other recyclable materials: a wood-based board (traditional or waterproof) and a cork underlay. The core board is equipped with our established click system, which allows for floating installation and makes the floor easily removable.
Whether in the original denim color, stone, or wood decor, the surface can be digitally printed with any design. This offers maximum flexibility of decors, even for individually customized projects.
Thus, the denim floor is sustainable, aesthetically pleasing, and extremely durable. But what happens when its life cycle ends?
Our 2nd-life concept addresses this challenge. We take back our used flooring in regional cycles and reintegrate it into our production process, creating a new, full-value floor, just as we do with our jeans flooring.
With LICO DENIM, we are making a cross-industry statement and closing the cycle.
