Graz - Heritage Collection, engineered Flooring displaying age-worn Characteristics
Graz engineered hardwood flooring from our Heritage Collection is an eco-friendly choice crafted with sustainability in mind. Its warm brown hues, shrunken knots, and lightly brushed texture bring age-worn beauty and natural harmony to any room.
The Characteristics
At Forestry Timber, sustainability is built into every layer. Our engineered hardwood floors unite innovation, responsibility, and natural beauty. The core and foundation layers, making up over 70% of each plank, are crafted from renewable plantation timbers. Hevea brasiliensis (rubberwood) and Sengon (Albizia falcataria). These species are grown locally in Indonesia, where our floors are also manufactured, supporting local communities and reducing transport emissions. Cultivated on managed plantations with a 20-year growth cycle, they ensure continuous regeneration and a minimal ecological footprint. Hevea brasiliensis offers the density, strength, and resilience similar to that of oak, serving as an eco-conscious alternative to slow-growing hardwoods. Sengon, a fast-growing species, enhances dimensional stability while minimizing resource impact. Together, they create a foundation that is both technically robust and environmentally responsible. By reducing reliance on old-growth timber, the wear layer of European Oak, which represents only 30% of each plank delivers natural warmth, rich texture, and enduring beauty. It is bonded with ultra low-VOC adhesives and finished using eco-friendly reactive stain technology, 4 maintaining the authentic appeal of solid oak while supporting sustainable longevity and circular design. With a lifespan exceeding 50 years, our floors are reparable, reusable, and biodegradable. At end of life, they can be repurposed or cleanly incinerated to generate energy, leaving no lasting environmental burden. All materials meet EUDR standards for responsible forestry and are produced under strict environmental management systems, complying with E1/CARB Phase 2 low formaldehyde emission requirements. This collection embodies sustainable craftsmanship, transforming renewable, locally sourced materials and responsibly harvested European Oak into enduring design. By replacing slow-growing hardwood cores with plantation-grown species.
At Forestry Timber, we prioritise human health and indoor air quality in every stage of production. All materials used in the manufacture of our engineered hardwood floors comply with REACH requirements, ensuring they are free from harmful substances and safe for both people and the planet. The adhesives used in construction are certified E0, achieving zero formaldehyde emissions, while all reactive colour and finishing technologies are non-toxic and environmentally friendly. Our topcoats and sealants are formulated to maintain indoor air purity without compromising performance or durability. We continuously invest in research and development to ensure every component meets or exceeds the world’s most rigorous health and safety benchmarks. Each product undergoes comprehensive compliance testing to confirm its safety and sustainability credentials. Forestry Timber’s floors meet the following standards of compliance: Blue Angel – certified for low emissions and environmental responsibility on tested products FloorScore® – certified for superior indoor air quality No Added Formaldehyde (NAF) VOC A+ rating – for 5 minimal volatile organic compound emissions Our flooring also contributes to achieving LEED and BREEAM building credits, supporting healthier, more sustainable environments across residential, commercial, and institutional spaces. We also have Environmental Product Declarations - EPD to support the environmental impact of our flooring. This was conducted by "The International EPD system" and can also be found in the IBU database.
At Forestry Timber, sustainability is at the heart of our production model. Our manufacturing plant in Indonesia operates close to the source of our materials, over 70% of our raw wood is indigenous to Indonesia, significantly reducing carbon emissions associated with long-distance transportation. This regional supply chain supports transparency and traceability while strengthening local economies. The plant’s energy and water systems are designed for maximum efficiency. Overflow water from a nearby river is repurposed to feed the boilers, which are fuelled entirely by reclaimed wood waste including chips, dust, shavings, and offcuts from production. This closed-loop system minimizes landfill waste and reduces dependence on fossil fuels. Material efficiency is integral to our process. All salvageable wood cut-offs and rejected pieces are repurposed into pallets, school furniture, and local handicrafts, creating employment opportunities and supporting community livelihoods. As a result, waste generation across the production cycle is near zero. Our factory’s tropical location further reduces our carbon footprint, eliminating the need for energy-intensive heating or daytime lighting. Manufacturing operations follow low-emission, non-toxic processes, ensuring a safe environment for both workers and the planet. By integrating renewable resources, energy recovery, and waste reuse, Forestry Timber demonstrates a holistic commitment to sustainable, low-carbon production that benefits people, place, and planet.
At Forestry Timber, we are deeply committed to social and ethical responsibility across our entire supply chain. Our materials Hevea brasiliensis and Sengon, are sourced from Indonesian small holdings and village cooperatives, providing fair employment opportunities in rural areas where work is often scarce. This model supports community development, local economies, and sustainable livelihoods. Our manufacturing facility in Indonesia employs more than 1,000 adult workers, all aged 18 years and above. Employees work a 40-hour week with regular rest periods and paid annual leave, in accordance with international labour standards. We operate under strict ethical, health, and safety frameworks, and our plant undergoes regular third-party audits to ensure compliance with international certification standards. Child labour, forced labour, or exploitation of any kind is strictly prohibited and will never be tolerated within our organisation or supply chain. We maintain due diligence procedures to monitor and uphold fair wages, safe working conditions, and equal opportunity. These practices reflect our belief that true sustainability includes social well-being, ensuring that every floor we produce supports not only healthy homes, but healthy communities.
