The Biomimetic Flooring Lab.

Hannover – University of Applied Sciences And Arts
Fakultät III – Medien, Information und Design, Abt. Design und Medien
Interior architecture

Teaching and research, practical relevance, further education and internationality characterize the standing of Hochschule Hannover. In Faculty III programs of study in media, information and design are taught. 100 professors, instructors for special subjects and lecturers are actively involved in the education of the around 2.500 students.

Project "The Biomimetic Flooring Lab."

The 14 students were asked to develop concepts that embody the DOMOTEX keynote theme of UNIQUE YOUNIVERSE, aka the trend towards product individualization. The ideas they have come up with fall into two broad categories: inspired by nature and modeled on high–efficiency natural processes and structures. Some of the prototypes being presented are experimental and visionary, while others are more focused on practical, real–world solutions.

Floor Codes – Future Floor

HAWK Hildesheim

IIT – Institute International Trendscouting (HAWK)

Project "Floor Codes – Future Floor"

This study outlines ways of future trends based on past and current room and floor design. A comprehensive examination of design was a requirement. The principle "Future needs origins" is the basis of developed future and surfaces scenarios. The observation of present times shows how the future of surface and floors will be thought. They will be diverse and individual, while also being versatile and digital.

Individual Motion Space

University of Applied Sciences Mainz
Master "Spatial Design"

"Individual Motion Space" is a project of master »Spatial Design« in Interior Architecture at the University of Applied Sciences Mainz, supervised by Prof. Klaus Teltenkötter and Prof. Bernd Benninghoff. The project is supported by the innovation fund of the University. "Robolab" is funded as a research project by the Carl Zeiss Foundation.

Project "Individual Motion Space", VR application to create individualized spaces by using body movements.

"Individual Motion Space«" is a virtual reality application, which enables users to create individually designed spaces in real time through the movement of their body. After the creation process the result will be transposed into real space with the help of digital fabrication technologies. Motion sensors within the sculpture will capture movement data in order to create a spatial design with various appearances. The accessible sculpture and the "fablab" bring the project alive for all visitors.
