Projects DOMOTEX 2018

flugs (2018), photographs cut and sewn, silk, thread, string, wall colour, 500 cm x 285 cm

In suspense, between the air and the earth. A little point of silence, of protection, offering the possibility of take off. Countless photographs were cut into pieces and then stuck together again. Turned towards the world. The artist's input overcomes political narrow–mindedness. The work of art: an opportunity to find one's place as an individual, to find out one's position in history (photographs from historical portraits), living conditions (piecework by cutting and sewing the photos), nature (trees, light).

Jette Hampe studied literature and philosophy in Munich and Nantes, also art education and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. She held a scholarship at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and she lives as artist with studio public funding in Munich.

BAUHAUS revisited

The Dessau Meisterhouses and pinetrees are just hinted at. Next to it hangs a fine grid. If you squint your eyes you will discover one of the white architectural bodies. Every new idea demands a new material: solid as a wall, flexible as a sheet of paper, soft as a textile.

20180111 deals with subjective reality as an analogically generated virtual space. As a sculptor, Lechner reflects on the transitions between reality and fiction which becomes some kind of contemporary baroque. The booth itself turns into a visually fragile state of material, light, shadow and space, finally shaping an idea through the audience's reflection.

Meanwhile in the Universe

A room, a window, closed with shutters, invites to open. Inhale – exhale maybe aerate. A piece of infinity appears as a live recording from the universe to be away or there. The installation deals with the moment. Where and who I am at this moment? Does the moment and setting correspond to my own reality? Has the space been dictated to me, or was it formed by myself?
