All lighting in the exhibition halls was converted from halogen vapor lamps to LED lighting. The phased replacement resulted in a 40 percent energy savings compared to the previous technology. In total, more than 4,300 lamps were replaced. Energy savings are also achieved through demand-based system control. Depending on weather conditions, this ensures that the exhibition halls are maintained at an appropriate temperature. Certification under ISO 50001 (Energy Management System) also provides transparency regarding energy consumption and unlocks potential for continuous improvements in energy efficiency.

Keyword "Waste disposal": The majority of the annual waste generated at the Hanover Exhibition Center arises during the setup and dismantling of our events and during the events themselves. We strive to continuously improve waste separation as an important prerequisite for a higher recycling rate. In order to avoid producing hazardous waste, we rely on innovative upcycling. For example, we collaborate with maesh, a Hannover-based company which produces individual bicycle, sports and toiletry bags, backpacks or shoppers from discarded advertising banners and thus gives this material a second life.
