FINON Eco | Kolon Industries, Inc.
FINON Eco is a spunbonded nonwoven fabric made from 90% post-consumer recycled polyester from plastic bottles. It is an eco-friendly version of its original spunbond product FINON, made from virgin polyester.
Despite the technical challenges in replacing the original virgin polyester with post-consumer recycled polyester, we succeeded in developing FINON Eco, which shows the same performance as FINON but has 43% reduced carbon dioxide equivalents.
Upon launching, FINON Eco was certified with the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), and in addition, it received EPD International certification for the first time in the worldwide carpet primary backing industry. Our achievements will allow carpet producers to develop more sustainable products without sacrificing performance. Furthermore, we are confident that FINON Eco will significantly have a positive impact on the carpet industry with a reduced carbon footprint and enhanced recycled content.
