The jury of specialists has decided which products and design highlights will take centre stage in Hannover more

What makes flooring special and innovative?

What makes a product appealing to target groups in terms of technology, quality and design – and distinguishes it from competing products? The jury of ten experts from the fields of design, architecture, interior design, property development and the media, chaired by Munich-based designer Stefan Diez, is guided by these criteria when evaluating the many entries submitted to the contest.

Serving as chairman of the jury for the third time in succession, Diez is a multiple-winner of design awards for furniture, tableware, bags and wood stoves designed for big-name companies.

Norbert Berndt

Master interior decorator and director of Raumgestaltung Vespermann

A flooring specialist whose long-standing family-run business was set up in 1893, Berndt has headed various industry associations and was elected President of the European interior decorating association Interior in 2012.

Manfred Birkenstock

Member of DOMOTEX trade fair advisory council / board member of Copa

Since 2001 managing board member of Copa, Germany's leading wholesale cooperative for floor coverings. In 2013 he initiated the carpet image campaign "Teppich & Du" (Carpets and You).

Farah Ebrahimi, Frankfurt

Art Director / e15

Farah Ebrahimi, a fashion graduate, is Art Director at e15 and plays a key role in developing the brand. As an Interior Designer she also plays a major role in the team at Philipp Mainzer Office for Architecture and Design.

Manfred Haverkamp, Herford

Manfred Haverkamp

Interior architect / Interior Design

Since 1983 Haverkamp and his teams in Herford and Shanghai have developed integral room concepts for international companies. His work has received many awards, most recently the "Iconic" and "Red Dot" awards.

Stefan F. Höglmaier, Munich

Founder and director / Euroboden

In 1999, aged just 24 years, Höglmaier founded Euroboden, the property sector’s first architectural brand. Nowadays he works with high-profile architects on the development of exclusive and unique projects, e.g. the conversion of Munich bunkers into stylish apartments.

Richard A. Kille

Managing director / IFR research institute for flooring and interior decoration, Cologne

Kille has served as an expert consultant to private and public clients and courts across Europe. He is passionate about his research work into flooring, speaks widely on the subject and organizes seminars and training sessions.

Karsten Krause, Wedel

Karsten Krause

Master interior designer and owner of K+R Raumausstattung

The flooring specialist has had his own interior decorating business for 30 years. He is active in diverse working groups, associations, etc. Board member of the central German association for the parquet and flooring trade until 2014.

Kirstin Ollech, Hamburg

Kirstin Ollech

Editor of "Schöner Wohnen"

After working for "Arcade", "Neues Wohnen" and "Brigitte", Kirstin Ollech became an editor at "Schöner Wohnen" in 2004. She has managed the brand "Schöner Wohnen-Kollektion" since 2012.

Karl A. Wildermuth, Leinfelden-Echterdingen

Editor of “Holz-Zentralblatt”

For almost 24 years the industry expert has acted as editor of the "Holz-Zentralblatt" magazine with responsibility for content on the wood trade, builders' suppliers and DIY stores, floor coverings, timber for gardens and building components.
